About Michael
Michael grew up in the Bronx in New York City and was raised in the African Methodist Episcopal Church. He came to the Boston area for college in 2001 and never left. He is a graduate of Harvard College (A.B. 2005), Harvard Law School (J.D. 2008), and the Bexley Hall-Seabury Western Theological Seminary Federation (M.Div. 2023).
Michael came to the Episcopal Church in about 2012 and fell in love with the beauty of the Episcopal Church’s liturgical tradition combined with its emphasizing Scripture, tradition, and reason. Before beginning his journey toward ordained ministry, Michael served in several capacities including as a lay eucharistic minister, worship leader, Vestry member, Warden, and Clerk.
In preparation for ordained ministry, Michael received a Master of Divinity from Bexley Seabury, a low-residency, distance-learning Episcopal seminary based in Chicago, Illinois. He completed field education internships with the Outdoor Church of Cambridge and All Saints Parish in Brookline, Massachusetts.
Following a ministry model going back to the earliest days of the Church, Michael’s ministry is bi-vocational, meaning he serves in both a church and a secular context. In the church context, Michael serves as Priest in Charge at St. John’s, Assistant Parliamentarian of the Convention of the Diocese of Massachusetts, on Diocesan committees, and on the boards of Diocesan-connected nonprofits. In the secular context, he practices law as an in-house litigation attorney in Boston.
Michael enjoys reading, music, going for walks and hikes, cooking and baking, and spending time with his husband, Patrick, and their two cat children, Aidan and Tynan.
