St John’s Happenings
News from the Centre Street Food Pantry: Please continue your thoughtful and generous giving! The Pantry is in need of: diapers and wipes (adult too), canned meats and fish, meals in a can, canned soups and toilet paper and other toiletries. Also, if you have any extra brown grocery bags, they can be put to good use! Please continue to leave your donations on the right side bench in the long hall – along with vocally spreading the word about the Pantry! Thank you
The Reverend Mark D. W. Edington is our Celebrant and Edward Dunar is our Preacher at the 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. Holy Eucharist, Rite II, this Sunday, January 18, 2015. Child Care will be provided.
Church School News:
We will not have Sunday School this Sunday, January 18 because of the holiday weekend. Child care is available for younger children. If you are interested in having your child(ren) attend Sunday School, willing to volunteer or have ideas about the program, please contact Jennifer Morgan at jmmorgan321@aol.com.
Recipes and Memories, the new St. John’s cookbook, is out! We will be selling these wonderful gifts for $15. This cookbook contains recipes from our members now and from previous cookbooks made at St. John’s. Make sure to get your copy! Kate McKey-Dunar
Next Book Group Meeting: We will discuss our December book selection, “During the Reign of the Queen of Persia”, will be this Tuesday, January 20, at 7:30 p.m. If everyone has read “The Storyteller” by Jodi Picoult by then, we can discuss that as well. Or, that could be our February selection – we’ll see how many of us get to finish it! All are welcome!
Annual Reports: All committee reports for the 2014 Annual Report Booklet should be submitted by Tuesday, January 20th. Please send your report electronically, (preferably copy-ready) either as an attachment, or in the body of an email to stjohnnew@rcn.com. Or, feel free to leave your report in Paula’s box in the office. Thank you for early submissions! Annual Meeting is Sunday, January 25th.
Annual Meeting Pot Luck Brunch: A sign-up sheet is posted on the parish office door. Please write down what you can bring – a main dish, salad, dessert or a beverage. We hope everyone stays for the meeting that follows. It is one of the few times where the entire parish has an opportunity to meet and discuss not only the past year; but, also our goals and dreams for the coming year.
Coffee Hour Sign-Up Sheet for January – March is posted on the Parish Office door. Please take the time to sign up for an upcoming Sunday. Participating in this essential and fun part of fellowship at St. John’s is easier than you think! If you are interested in hosting one, there are plenty of veteran coffee hour providers who could guide you and answer your questions. Thank you!
