St. John’s Happenings

Centre Street Food PantryThe need for food does not take a vacation!  Our Christmas Giving Tree reminds us that donations are still very much needed.  Please keep the Food Pantry in your thoughts this summer – the shelves will be in need of re-stocking!  Thank you

There are lots of openings for volunteers this summer—please help get the pantry ready or help shoppers select their items. The Pantry provides groceries, fresh, and frozen items to 25-40 families each shopping day and needs lots of help to keep things running smoothly. Tell your friends, colleagues, and students home for the summer!  Here’s the link to the Volunteerspot.com  calendar.

The Reverend Mark D. W. Edington is our Celebrant and Preacher at the 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. Holy Eucharist Service, June 15, 2014.  Child Care will be provided.

Church School is on hiatus for the summer. The nursery is available every Sunday, though. Church School will start up again in September. Be on the lookout for more information as we get closer to the fall!

Summer Office HoursThe Parish Office will be open Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. through Labor Day.  As always, voicemail messages will continue to be retrieved daily!

The Next Book Group Meeting  will be next Tuesday, June 17th at 7:30 p.m.  We will be discussing Light Between the Oceans and author, M. L. Stedman.  This will be our final meeting before summer break.  Look for our start-up date in September; and, please consider joining us.  We have an easy-going format and conversation that covers our selected book and author, along with other diverging subjects as well!  All are welcome!

Summertime Coffee Hour For the months of July and August we will keep the fellowship of coffee hour fuss-free.  We encourage folks to drop off a package or two of cookies and/or lemonade and iced tea to have in reserve.  It will be easier if you bring in bottles/cans/containers of cold drinks so that things do not need to be mixed causing additional clean up.  Your donations can be left in the kitchenette or refrigerator off of the Loring Room.  Thank you

Upcoming Dates to Remember:

June 29, July 6 and July 13 – St. John’s will be worshipping at Trinity Church, Newton Centre.  Services will be at 10:00 a.m.

July 20, 27 and August 3 – St. John’s will host our friends from Trinity Church.  The service on July 27 will be at 5:00 p.m., with a cookout following.

Please Note:   There will be an 8:00 a.m. service through next Sunday, June 22.  It will then go into abeyance until September 7th.
