St. John’s Happenings

News from the Centre Street Food Pantry:

Thank you to Marjorie Carey for picking up and delivering our many bags of donations for the Pantry!  Here is why the Food Pantry volunteers are especially thankful for our support this season:  October, 2013 – 159 families shopped for 449 people; October, 2014 – 205 families shopped at the Pantry for 545 people.  This increase of 46 families represents 230 additional bags chock-full of good things for the people who need our help!  Thank you to all who continue to help these families to move forward! Please Note:  Your contributions should now be left on the right side bench in the upper hall.  The Dedicated Food Pantry Volunteers send their heartfelt thanks!

The Reverend Mark D. W. Edington is our Celebrant and Tim Strayer is our Preacher at the 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. Holy Eucharist, Rite II, November 23, 2014.  Child Care will be provided.

Church School News:

This Sunday, the Sunday School children will be making Thanksgiving boxes for food donations. Our annual tradition is to decorate boxes that will be filled with food by the Bowen Pre-School for donation to local families.  The finished boxes will be displayed at Coffee Hour.

Due to no scheduled classes next Sunday, November 30th, The First Sunday of Advent, we will begin making Advent Wreaths this week at Coffee Hour.  If you have a wreath form from years past, please bring it in!  The children will start in church for the 10AM service and be dismissed to Sunday School. Godly Play is offered for children 4 years old through 2nd grade. Older children (3rd – 6th grade) will assist with the younger children and participate in the activities. Child care is available for younger children. If you are interested in having your child(ren) attend Sunday School, willing to volunteer or have ideas about the program, please contact Jennifer Morgan at jmmorgan321@aol.com.

Thank you.
