St. John’s Happenings

Centre Street Food Pantry NewsFall has arrived and there is great need for soup and canned meals, along with cereal, granola bars, and coffee.  Also, Marjorie Carey has reported that the Pantry is in need of shampoo, dish detergent, and sanitary products for their clients. Your contributions can be left under our “Christmas Giving Tree” in the upper hall.  Heartfelt thanks from the Pantry volunteers and the dozens of families who receive your generous donations!

The Reverend Margaret Schwarzer is our Guest Celebrant and Preacher at the 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. Holy Eucharist, Rite II Service, October 19, 2014.  Child Care will be provided.

Church School News:

Sunday School will begin this Sunday, October 19.  The children will start in church for the 10AM service and be dismissed to Sunday School after the first hymn.  Godly Play is offered for children 4 years old through 2nd grade.  Older children (3rd – 6th grade) will be assisting with the younger children and participating in the activities.  Child care is available for younger children.  If you are interested in having your child(ren) attend Sunday School, willing to volunteer or have ideas about the program, please contact Jennifer Morgan at jmmorgan321@aol.com.

Help Finding Housing

Our sister Jennifer Nolan is looking for a new place to live. The home in which she has been renting an apartment has been sold, and the new owner is requiring her (and others) to leave by October 31st.

This does not give her a great deal of time to find a new place. Any ideas, contacts, or suggestion would be helpful. You can reach Jennifer directly at jennifernolan48@yahoo.com if you know or something that might be helpful. Thank you.

The Next Book Group Meeting will be next Tuesday, October 21st at 7:30 p.m. We will be discussing the novel “Cascade”  and author Maryanne O’Hara at this gathering.  Please come and join us!

All Saints’ Festival Sunday, November 2nd:  On this day, St. John’s will remember those who have died during the past year, as well as “all the Saints” who are cherished by each of us.  Please give the names of those you wish to have remembered to Paula, either by leaving a note on the desk in the Parish Office, email to stjohnnew@rcn.com, or call 617.964.2591.

Reminder – Fall Back:  Daylight saving time ends Sunday, November 2nd.  Don’t forget to set your clocks back one hour!
