St. John’s Happenings
Centre Street Food Pantry News: Fall has arrived and there is great need for soup and canned meals, along with cereal, granola bars, and coffee. Also, Marjorie Carey has reported that the Pantry is in need of shampoo, dish detergent, and sanitary products for their clients. Your contributions can be left under our “Christmas Giving Tree” in the upper hall. Heartfelt thanks from the Pantry volunteers and the dozens of families who receive your generous donations!
The Reverend Mark D. W. Edington is our Celebrant and Edward Dunar is our Preacher at the 8:00 and 10:00 a.m. Holy Eucharist Service, Rite II, October 12, 2014. Child Care will be provided.
For your reading pleasure – Mark has a piece up on WBUR’s “Cognoscenti” blog. You will find it at this link — http://cognoscenti.wbur.org/
Church School News:
Sunday School will start on October 19. The children will start in church for the 10AM service and be dismissed to Sunday School after the first hymn. Godly Play is offered for children 4 years old through 2nd grade. Older children (3rd – 6th grade) will be assisting with the younger children and participating in the activities. Child care is available for younger children. If you are interested in having your child(ren) attend Sunday School, willing to volunteer or have ideas about the program, please contact Jennifer Morgan at jmmorgan321@aol.com.

Were you at the Blessing of the Animals last week? Did you take some photos? Please share them with St. John’s! We would love to post them on our website and Facebook pages. Please send your photos to Kate McKey-Dunar at kemckey@gmail.com. Thanks!

All Saints’ Festival Sunday, November 2nd: On this day, St. John’s will remember those who have died during the past year, as well as “all the Saints” who are cherished by each of us. Please give the names of those you wish to have remembered to Paula, either by leaving a note on the desk in the Parish Office, email to stjohnnew@rcn.com, or call 617.964.2591.
Sadly, the St. John’s Fine Art and Crafts Fair originally set for November 22nd has been cancelled. The coordinating team is now targeting the spring –before Mother’s Day. A new date and details will be forthcoming. And, remember, your help is very much needed! Please talk to craft vendors you may know – and let Patty, Kristin, Laura or Kate know of any ideas you may have to make this event a big success!
